Impressions are taken of your teeth and custom whitening trays are constructed. These are a custom fit for you and are designed in a way to protect your gums making the whitening experience safe. These are checked by your dentist to ensure a good fit. Due to EU restrictions in this are the max percentage is 6% hydrogen peroxide or 16% carbamide peroxide. For the best effect we recommend home whitening for between 30-90 minutes for up to 2 weeks.

At Crowley Dental we use 6% hydrogen peroxide in the form of Poladay. We recommend using this for 2 weeks for between 30-90 minutes a day. This is very safe and we find that it gently lightens the teeth over 2 weeks with only minor sensitivity.

A conservative guide as to how much they will whiten is 3-4 shades but can be up to 7/8 shades.

No – any dentistry in your mouth such as fillings even white ones, crowns, veneers, bridges etc will not whiten. It should also be noted that any visible root surface will not whiten. The most effective whitening occurs on the enamel of the teeth.
